ET is the deputy coordinator of the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Materials Science and a member of the faculty board of the doctoral school in Chemical Sciences.

Research activity has always focused on the study—synthesis, characterization, and device integration—of carbon-based systems, both in the form of micro- and nanomaterials (nanotubes, nanodiamonds, graphite/graphene) and conductive conjugated polymers. These systems are also studied in composite form and in association with metal and metal oxide nanoparticles. The preparation methodologies investigated include CVD techniques, chemical synthesis, electrochemical synthesis, and 3D printing, followed by morphological, structural, and functional characterizations of electrochemical, electrical, thermal, and electromechanical types. The materials studied are routinely tested for electronic, optoelectronic, sensor, energy, and biomedical applications.
