Short Bio

Sara Tosi obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry in 2021 and her Master’s degree in Chemistry in 2025 at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata.” During her Master’s thesis, carried out in collaboration between the Analytical Chemistry group and the CarbonSite group, she worked in the fields of Analytical and Inorganic Chemistry, focusing on the upcycling of microplastics as precursors for nanodiamond synthesis via Hot Filament Chemical Vapor Deposition (HFCVD). The research work involved the characterization of the resulting carbon-based materials using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy, as well as the evaluation of their performance as electrochemical platforms. In July 2025, she was awarded a post-graduate research fellowship for the project “Development of carbon-based nanomaterials and metallic nanoparticles for sensing applications,” continuing her research within the CarbonSite group.
